- The Lady Flames picked up a Top 25 win last Wednesday, its 25th win over a nationally-ranked program under current Head Coach Dot Richardson and 31st all-time. Liberty built a 10-4 lead over No. 13 Virginia before holding off a five-run Hokie rally in the seventh inning and winning 10-9. The team is looking to bounce back after being swept at home by Louisiana Tech over the weekend.
- Liberty is tied for third in CUSA standings at 15-9 with one series remaining. Virginia fell to James Madison at home last Tuesday, which was the Cavaliers' sixth loss in a row. UVA then responded by sweeping NC State over the weekend in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers are sixth in ACC standings at 13-10.
- Liberty and Virginia have split the season series each of the last three years, after the Lady Flames went 9-1 against UVA from 2017-22. UVA rallied from a 1-0 deficit against Liberty on March 25. Savannah Jessee gave the Lady Flames the lead with a solo homer in the fourth, before the Cavaliers, ranked 12th nationally at the time, scored twice in the sixth and held on for a 2-1 win. That is Liberty's only one-run loss of the season, as the Lady Flames are 6-1 in one-run games this year.
- The Lady Flames are 1-9 against Top 25 opponents this season. Liberty holds the sixth toughest nonconference strength of schedule in NCAA Division I softball so far this year.
