
No. 3 Seed Liberty Opens CUSA Tournament With 9-0 Win Over No. 7 Seed LA Tech

The Lady Flames level their season record at 27-27 with their fourth win in a row overall. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs (30-24) fall into the losers' bracket after seeing their eight-game winning streak snapped. LA Tech beat FIU 2-1 in extra innings this afternoon in a play-in game.

Turning Point
- Liberty rallied with two on and nobody out in the bottom of the third, leading 1-0. Brynn McManus doubles, and Savannah Jessee (two-run) and Alexia Carrasquillo hit back-to-back homer to make it 4-0, Liberty.
- Double plays ended both the top of the third and fourth innings. The Lady Flames then put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth.
- Liberty outhit LA Tech 9-3 for the game. The Bulldogs left three on base, while the Lady Flames stranded two.
- Camden Anders (13-6) tossed her second shutout, a three-hitter, walking two and fanning six.
- LA Tech's Ruby Fidge (3-3) drew the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings before giving way to Allie Floyd and Laney Johnson.
- Savannah Jessee went 2-for-3 with a double, homer, sacrifice fly and five RBI, while Brynn McManus batted 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Ella Fox (2-for-3) recorded a double and scored twice, while Alexia Carrasquillo hit her 12th homer of the season.
- Liberty leads LA Tech 12-3 in the all-time series. The Bulldogs swept the regular-season series two weeks ago at Liberty.
- Today was Liberty's seventh shutout of the season, with six of them coming against CUSA opponents.
- Liberty hit back-to-back home runs in a conference tournament game for the first time since May 7, 1999 against Charleston Southern, when Kim Johnson and Katie Phillips hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning.
