- Virginia Tech blanked Liberty 9-0 last Wednesday in Lynchburg, hitting three homers and getting a combined four-hit shutout from Bree Carico and Avery Layton. The Hokies have outscored the Lady Flames 24-0 over the last three meetings, dating to last season.
- Liberty remains in search of its first win over a Top 25 team this season. The Lady Flames have averaged three wins over nationally-ranked teams per season, dating to the 2018 campaign.
- Liberty is tied with WKU for second place in CUSA standings, with the Lady Flames holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Hilltoppers. The Lady Flames overcame a 6-5 deficit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, getting a go-ahead two-run single from Dani Lee and a save by Camden Anders to seal the series victory. Liberty is 5-1 in one-run games this season. Sunday was Liberty's eighth comeback win this year, fifth when trailing in the sixth inning or later and second when down in the seventh.
- Virginia Tech is coming off of a 2-1 home series loss to Georgia Tech this past weekend. The Hokies rank fifth in ACC standings with a 12-6 conference record. Virginia Tech is ranked third nationally in doubles (93), 10th in batting average (.356), eighth in home runs (81), ninth in runs per game (7.93) and 15th in team ERA (2.63).
- Maci Strickland was named CUSA Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, on Monday. She batted .385 with a double, homer and four RBI in four games last week. Strickland carries a six-game hitting streak into this week.
- Four Lady Flames hit .300 or better, led by freshman Dani Lee, who bats .354 with two homers and 12 RBI. Alexia Carrasquillo (.326) leads the Lady Flames in both homers (10) and RBI (37). Ella Fox (.315) is the team leader in runs (30) and stolen bases (9). Savannah Jessee (.305) has registered seven homers and 26 RBI, while Brynn McManus (.293) has posted seven homers and 30 RBI.
- The Liberty pitching staff has recorded five shutouts this season, with four coming in conference play. Camden Anders (11-4, 3.07 ERA) is 8-1 with a 2.04 ERA in CUSA games, posting a win and a save during the FIU series this past weekend. Danner Allen (5-2, 6.09) has posted two shutouts, including a no-hitter at Missouri State, April 3. Gabby Mike (2-10, 4.20) struck out a career-high seven batters, April 2 at Missouri State, while Abigail Findlay (3-1, 2.68) picked up her third win of the year, Sunday at FIU.
