
Lady Flames to Host Liberty Softball Classic

LYNCHBURG, Va. -Â Liberty opens its home schedule this weekend, hosting Toledo, Syracuse and Maryland for the Liberty Softball Classic, Friday and Saturday. The Lady Flames will then play at the Mizuno Classic in Charlottesville, Va., taking on Ohio State in a game hosted at Virginia's Palmer Park,

- The Lady Flames scored their first two wins of the season this past weekend at the Bama Bash, topping Georgia Southern twice (5-3, 6-1). In Friday's win over GSU, Paige Doerr hit Liberty's first homer of the season. On Saturday, Maci Strickland and Savannah Nash both recorded three-hit games as Liberty registered a season-high 15 hits against Georgia Southern.
- Six out of Liberty's first nine games this season were against teams who were ranked in the Top 10 at time of meeting. The Lady Flames scored first against Tennessee, Clemson, Oregon and Alabama.
- North Carolina transfer Ella Fox leads the Lady Flames with a .333 batting average and eight runs scored, while Maci Strickland bats .286. Alexia Carrasquillo hits .280, while Savannah Jessee hit .250. Brynn McManus (.214) leads the Lady Flames with five RBI on the season.
- Seven different pitchers have seen action in the circle for Liberty this season, with Duke transfer Gabby Mike starting five out of the 10 games and posting a 4.72 ERA and 1-4 record to date. Georgia Tech transfer Camden Anders picked up her first career win last week against Georgia Southern. Two-time CUSA All-Conference pitcher Kaylan Yoder started the season opener, while junior Katie Love, sophomore Danner Allen and freshmen Abigail Findlay and Caitlyn Nesbitt have all pitched in 2026.
- Liberty was predicted to win its third straight CUSA title in the preseason coaches' poll, while catcher Savannah Jessee, infielder Savanah Whatley, pitcher Kaylan Yoder and outfielder Paige Doerr were all named to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team.
- The Lady Flames welcome 11 newcomers, including seven freshmen and four transfers.
