LYNCHBURG, Va. – Virginia tossed a combined two-hit shutout of Liberty, defeating the Lady Flames on Tuesday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.

The Cavaliers conclude their regular season with a 37-12 record, while the Lady Flames (23-27) wrapped up their home schedule today.

Virginia was ranked No. 23 in this week's NFCA/GoRout DI Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Turning Point

The Cavaliers jumped on the board right away with a leadoff homer from Jade Hylton in the top of the first.
UVA's Taylor Smith (two innings) and Eden Bigham (five IP) pitched a combined two-hit shutout, keeping the Lady Flames scoreless in the 4-0 victory.

Virginia outhit Liberty 5-2 for the game, with the Lady Flames committing two errors. The Cavaliers left nine runners on base, while Liberty stranded four.
Eden Bigham (13-4) earned the victory, allowing one run and striking six in five innings of relief. UVA starter Taylor Smith pitched two innings, yielding one hit and one walk.
Danner Allen (5-3) drew the loss, yielding three runs on two hits, walking two and striking out one in 2 2/3 innings. Gabby Mike allowed one run on three hits, walking two and striking out two in 3 1/3 innings before Abigail Findlay pitched a shutout seventh inning.

Virginia holds a 52-32 all-time record against Liberty in softball, with the Cavaliers winning both games. This is the first time since 2014 that UVA won both games against Liberty in a season.
Dani Lee posted her fourth two-hit game of the season and second against an ACC opponent. She also had two hits against North Carolina.
Liberty is 1-10 this season against Top 25 teams. The Lady Flames are 31-140 all-time against nationally-ranked opponents and 25-99 under current Head Coach Dot Richardson.
