
Liberty Splits Pair of Games on Day 1 at Bama Bash

The Lady Flames (1-7) went 1-1 on day one at the Easton Bama Bash. Alabama (7-0) beat both Purdue and Liberty today, while Georgia Southern lost to both Purdue and Liberty.
Alabama was ranked No. 8 in this week's Softball America Top 25, appearing 10th in both the NFCA and D1Softball polls and 13th in the USA Softball Top 25. The Lady Flames were listed among "others receiving votes in both the USA Softball and NFCA polls on Tuesday.

Turning Point
- Camden Anders entered the game with Liberty trailing 3-2 with one out and a runner on third base in the top of the fifth. Anders got out of the jam with a flyout and popout. The Lady Flames tied it in the bottom of the fifth on a solo homer by Paige Doerr.
- Liberty jumped ahead with a two-run sixth inning. Savannah Jessee drew a leadoff walk. Pinch runner Aubry Norris then scored on an RBI double by Alexia Carrasquillo. Maci Strickland then made it 5-3 Liberty with a two-out RBI single.
- Liberty outhit Georgia Southern 8-5 for the game, with the Eagles committing two errors. GSU left six runners on base, compared to four stranded by the Lady Flames.
- Liberty left-hander Camden Anders (1-0) earned the win, tossing 2 2/3 innings of no-hit relief during which she walked one and struck out one. Starter Caitlyn Nesbitt yielded three runs on five hits, walking one and fanning two in 4 1/3 innings.
- Alana Barnard (0-1) drew the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, walking two and fanning two in six innings.
- Alexia Carrasquillo went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored, while Maci Strickland batted 2-for-3 with one RBI. Paige Doerr hit 1-for-2 with a homer, one RBI and one run scored.
- Braelyn Queen batted 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored for GSU.
- Georgia Southern leads the all-time series against Liberty in softball, 2-1. The last two meetings both came in a doubleheader at Georgia Southern, March 16, 2003.
- Doerr's fifth-inning homer was the first home run by the Lady Flames this season.
- Savannah Nash recorded her 102nd career RBI and first as a Lady Flame since transferring from Saint Francis (Pa.).

Turning Point
- The Lady Flames built a 3-2 lead after two innings, but left five runners on base in the process. Alabama's first two batters of the game reached, on an Audrey Vandagriff single and Brooke Wells homer.
- Gabby Mike held the Tide hitless in the second and third, before Alabama took the lead with a four-run fourth.
- Both teams registered eight hits, with Liberty committing two errors compared to one miscue for Alabama. The Lady Flames left eight runners on base, while the Crimson Tide stranded five.
- Kaitlyn Pallozzi (2-0) earned the win, allowing three hits and striking out five in 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Starter Jocelyn Briski yielded three runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings, fanning four.
- Gabby Mike (0-4) drew the loss, yielding six runs on five hits, walking two and fanning one in 3 1/3 innings. Camden Anders pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
