
Hines Shines as Liberty Tops Reigning ASUN Champion Coastal 15-7

CONWAY, S.C. – Goalkeeper Rachel Hines starred all over the field, guiding the Lady Flames (7-3, 2-0 ASUN) to a 15-7 triumph over defending Atlantic Sun champion Coastal Carolina (4-6, 0-1 ASUN on Saturday.
Hines made 13 saves on 22 shots while adding a career-high seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. In the fourth quarter, the sophomore found herself defending in Liberty's attacking zone. Instead of retreating, Hines stepped in front of a pass from her counterpart and dished a pass to Ava Rajala who earned Hines the assist with the score.
Taiva Reinertson (5g, 1a) and Mackenzie Lehman (3g, 1a) each recorded a hat trick in the first half of Saturday's contest. Liberty held an 8-1 lead at halftime and outscored Coastal 7-6 in the second half to secure the 15-7 final.
Coastal pushed back in the third quarter with three goals to begin the fourth quarter to trim the lead from 12-4 to 12-7. Liberty left little doubt the rest of the way with three unanswered scores from Ava Rajala (2g, 4a), Olivia Young (one goal) and Cami Merkel (2g, 2a).
The Lady Flames caused havoc for the Chanticleers all game, peppering Coastal with 44 shots. The host team committed 22 turnovers on Saturday with 15 caused by Liberty.

The Lady Flames netted the first goal of the contest at the 11:59 mark with a woman-down, Taiva Reinertson score. The Chanticleers responded with a tally from Maddie Bates (10:09). Reinertson answered back to get Liberty a 2-1 lead they would hold for the rest of the game.
Liberty went on a stretch of seven consecutive goals to balloon the lead to 8-1 to close the second quarter. At the end of the stretch, Reinertson and Lehman both registered three goals with additional tallies from Katie Colavito and Cami Merkel.
