
Icard Finishes 40th on 1-Meter on Day 2 at Zone Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Liberty sophomore Shannon Icard placed 40th on one-meter springboard, on day two of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, Monday at LeJeune Hall
Icard, junior Kayla Walsh and Mercy Goodnight are competing to earn a spot in the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held in Atlanta, Ga., March 18-21. Icard, Walsh and Goodnight will all compete on three-meter tomorrow, while Icard will contest platform diving on Wednesday.

Icard, Walsh and Goodnight will compete on three-meter tomorrow. The preliminary rounds for three-meter diving begin at 10:15 a.m. with prelim A, featuring Kayla Walsh. Goodnight and Icard both compete in prelim B at 2:45 p.m. The top 18 scores advancing to finals at 5:15 p.m.

- During this week's four-day meet, the top 18 from prelims each day qualify for evening finals. The top six combined scores from prelims and finals in one-meter diving qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
- This year, it took 255.65 points to qualify for the Zone A Diving final on one-meter springboard. Charlotte Martinkus of Princeton posted the top qualifying score of 291.85.
- Icard competed in prelim B, scoring 227.55 to place 40th out of 86 participants.
- Today's divers represented schools from Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
- This is the eighth straight NCAA postseason appearance for Liberty's divers. The Lady Flames are attempting to send the first Liberty diver to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
- This is the third time that Liberty has competed in NCAA Zone Diving Championships at Navy's LeJeune Hall. The Lady Flames' first Zone Championship experience came in 2019 at LeJeune Hall, which also hosted the championships in 2022 and now this year.
