Goodnight Places 27th at Zones on 3-Meter

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Liberty freshman Mercy Goodnight finished 27th on three-meter springboard, highlighting Liberty's participation on day three of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, Tuesday at LeJeune Hall.
Goodnight scored 250.90 points in prelims, good for 27th, while Kayla Walsh (242.30) finished 34th. Shannon Icard (213.20) tied for 55th place.
Icard, Walsh and Goodnight are competing to earn a spot in the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held in Atlanta, Ga., March 18-21. Icard will contest platform diving on Wednesday.

Icard will wrap up competition at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships tomorrow, contesting the platform. Prelims begin at 11 a.m., with finals immediately following.

- During this week's four-day meet, the top 18 from prelims each day qualify for evening finals. The top five combined scores from prelims and finals in three-meter diving qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
- This year, it took 264.00 points to qualify for the Zone A Diving final on three-meter springboard. Katerina Hoffman of Rutgers posted the top qualifying score of 332.70.
- Today's three-meter competition saw a field of 66 divers. They represented schools from Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
- This is the eighth straight NCAA postseason appearance for Liberty's divers. The Lady Flames are attempting to send the first Liberty diver to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
- This is the third time that Liberty has competed in NCAA Zone Diving Championships at Navy's LeJeune Hall. The Lady Flames' first Zone Championship experience came in 2019 at LeJeune Hall, which also hosted the championships in 2022 and now this year.
