
Liberty Enters Final Day at American Championships in 2nd Place

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Liberty will head into the final day of the 2026 American Conference Swimming & Diving Championship in second place, following Friday's action on day three at Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Defending American Conference champion Rice leads with 1,040.5 points, followed by 2025 ASUN champion Liberty with 892. East Carolina (774.5) is in third, while FIU (700) is fourth.

The final day of the 2026 American Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championship will begin tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. with prelims of the 100 freestyle followed by the 200 back and 200 breaststroke. Tomorrow will also feature platform diving and the 400 free relay.

- 800 freestyle relay – 2nd place in 7:15.68 (Kamryn Cannings – 1:45.92; Kaycee Cannings – 1:50.42; Natalie Colarossi – 1:50.53; Emma Herrera – 1:48.81)
- Fr. Gwyneth Frick – 100 backstroke (1st place in 52.92 - qualified in 54.00)
- Fr. Dakota Howard – 100 backstroke (3rd place in 53.60 - qualified in 54.02)
- R-Jr. Malia Francis – 100 backstroke (7th place in 54.76 - qualified in 54.62)
- So. Aly Bozzuto – 100 breaststroke (1st place in 59.57- qualified in 59.77)
- Jr. Kayla Walsh – Three-meter diving (6) (5th place in 293.90 – qualified in 276.35)
- Liberty recorded six top-eight finishes on Friday, including four podium finishes, two event victories, one NCAA automatic qualifier and one NCAA Zone qualifier. For the meet, Liberty has posted 20 top-eight finishes, 10 podiums and five event victories. The Lady Flames have set one program record, earning three automatic qualifications to the NCAA Championships and one NCAA Zone qualification.
- Any swimmer who wins an event this weekend and meets the NCAA qualifying standard will earn automatic qualification to the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. So far this week, Aly Bozzuto (50 free, 100 breaststroke) and Kamryn Cannings (100 fly) have both earned their spot at NCAA nationals.
- Aly Bozzuto earned another automatic berth to the NCAA Championships, winning the 100 breaststroke in 59.57.
- A pair of Liberty freshmen medaled in the 100 backstroke, with Gwyneth Frick winning in 52.92 and Dakota Howard placing third in 53.60.
- The Lady Flames opened the evening with a second-place finish in the 800 free relay in 7:15.68.
- Kayla Walsh earned an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 293,90 in the three-meter A Final, placing fifth. She joins teammates Mercy Goodnight and Shannon Icard as Lady Flames who will compete at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.
- Liberty, James Madison and Marshall are all in their first year as affiliate members in the American Conference for swimming & diving.
- Bozzuto earned her fourth career conference individual-event championship and second this week (also 50 free). The sophomore will be making her second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships.
- Frick ranks fourth in program history in the 100 backstroke with her 52.92 from tonight. Dakota Howard moves up to sixth on Liberty's all-time top performers list in the event with her 53.60 from the A Final.
- Walsh's 293.90 from tonight's A Final ranks seventh in program history on three-meter springboard.
- Liberty's quartet of Kamryn Cannings, Kaycee Cannings, Natalie Colarossi and Emma Herrera are ranked fifth in program history in the 800 free relay at 7:15.68.
