Turning Point
- UTEP loaded the bases with two outs in the first. However, Eliana Escobar left the bases loaded with her third strikeout of the inning.
- Liberty built a commanding 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first getting RBI hits from Brooke Roberts (two-run single), KK Madrey (two-run triple) and Paige Doerr (RBI single).
Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit UTEP 10-5 for the game, with both teams leaving six runners on base.
- Elena Escobar (13-2) earned the win, improving to 6-0 in Conference USA play this season. She allowed two runs on five hits, walking four and striking out seven.Â
- Taja Felder (5-7) drew the loss, allowing five runs on four hits in 1/3 of an inning. Serenity Jacoway, Anisa Reynolds and Audrey Gallegos all pitched in relief.
- KK Madrey went 3-for-3 with a triple, a career high-tying four RBI and one run scored. Brooke Roberts batted 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Savannah Woodard hit 1-for-2 with three runs scored, while Rachel Roupe went 1-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and two runs. Savanah Whatley drew three walks and scored once.
- For UTEP, Ashlynn Griffith went 2-for-3.
- Liberty leads UTEP in the all-time series, 4-1, including 3-1 since the Lady Flames joined Conference USA prior to the 2024 season.
- Liberty is 14-1 at home this season, outscoring opponents 119-34. The Lady Flames have won 10Â straight home games, which is the team's longest home winning streak since earning 12 consecutive home wins, Feb. 24 through March 11, 2023.
- Liberty was ranked No. 20 in the D1Softball Top 25 Poll this week.
- The Lady Flames are the first CUSA team since WKU in 2019 to start 9-0 in conference play. Â
- Madrey became the 25th player in program history to score 100 or more career runs as a Lady Flame.
- Roupe is now in sole possession of fifth in program history with 154 career runs scored. She is now tied with Kelby Allen (2012-15) for 10th all-time at Liberty with 204 hits.
- Every Lady Flame who batted today had at least one hit or one RBI.
