LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty field hockey team featured 15 student-athletes on the 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad.
To be recognized, a student-athlete must possess a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher through the first semester of the 2024-25 school year (see below) and be nominated by their NFHCA member coach. This year, 1,098 undergraduate student-athletes from over 80 institutions made the 2024 Division I National Academic Squad.
A total of 170 honorees, including the Lady Flames' Ellie Livingston, earned this distinction for a fourth straight year.
The standards for qualification were changed before the 2022-23 school year, with the GPA minimum being bumped from a 3.30 cumulative GPA to a 3.50 GPA. Additionally, only undergraduate student-athletes are eligible for the award.
Three Division I academic awards remain to be announced. The NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be unveiled on Friday, followed by the NFHCA National Academic Team awards next Tuesday. The NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete recipient will be released next Thursday.
