Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
I loved the idea of playing at a top level D1 school, with great facilities and great staff, while getting to also be immersed into a Christian atmosphere and glorify the Lord through field hockey!
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
Pregame is a time to lock in, so I make sure to follow a similar routine each time. Most importantly, I have my air pods blasting worship music the whole time!
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My dad! He is so resilient, hard-working and ultimately so faithful to the Lord in how he lives. He knows when to "coach" me and when to just be "dad" and that balance is why we are so close.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
When we beat UNC in the 2023 season on their home turf! That whole season was special as I had had 2 knee surgeries before that and recovered in time to play the whole season.
If you picked your jersey/uniform number, why is that number important to you?
I wear 21 because it is the combination of my number (#10) and my dad's number he played rugby with (#11).
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
My dad, Peter Combrinck, played rugby at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town South Africa.
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
Dinner is my favorite meal, and that meal is my mom's prawn pasta.
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
Whatsapp is the first app I check.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
My favorite hobbies are napping and cooking :).
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
I have two French Bulldogs, Frankie & Ivy.
Who was your favorite athlete growing up?
Usain Bolt.
What is your favorite possession and why?
My Air pods, I can't live without them. Especially on long travel days.
What is your Go-To karaoke song?
Never Say Never by Justin Bieber.
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Greece is my dream vacation because I love the beach and would love to spend days visiting all the different beaches.
