Tomasi Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll For 2nd Time This Year

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey junior Josefina Tomasi has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for a second time this season.
This is the second time in the last three weeks Tomasi has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She earned the award for the first time this year on Sept. 8. Tomasi is now a three-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recipient for her career.
Tomasi's recognition comes after her performance in home matches against Miami (OH) and Appalachian State this past weekend. The forward from Cañada de Gómez, Argentina led Liberty in goals (3) and points (7) in those two matchups while adding an assist.
In Sunday afternoon's 7-2 win over App State, Tomasi notched her second career two-goal game. Her first goal came 40 seconds into the second period, a blast from the right side of the circle into the left corner of the cage off a feed from Luna Prieri. Tomasi later tacked on her second goal of the contest in the 41st minute, knocking a rebound into the cage for her fifth goal of the season. Tomasi also assisted on Prieri's 11th minute goal.
In Saturday's matchup with the Miami RedHawks at the Liberty Field Hockey Field, the forward gave the hosts a 2-0 lead with a goal at the 8:37 mark.
In eight games this year, all starts, Tomasi is tied for second on the squad with five goals and is also tied for second with 12 points.
Liberty has earned six BIG EAST weekly awards through four weeks of the 2026 season.
Tomasi and No. 14 Liberty (5-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) will play their BIG EAST Conference opener on Friday night at No. 7 Connecticut (6-1, 1-0 BIG EAST). Game time is 6 p.m. at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn.
