LYNCHBURG, Va. – No. 13 Liberty bounced back with a 7-2 triumph over visiting Appalachian State, Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Field Hockey Field.
Six different Lady Flames scored in the match, led by a pair of goals from junior forward Josefina Tomasi. Liberty also tallied seven assists today, with Morena Giacosa and Avery Pollock leading the way with two assists.
Liberty bolsters its record to 5-3. The Lady Flames are 2-2 at home in 2026. Liberty split its pair of home games this weekend. App State falls to 5-3 overall. The Lady Flames have topped the Mountaineers in each of the last three seasons and own a 10-1 edge in the all-time series.

App State scored the first goal of the match at the 3:53 mark, but Liberty answered with a three-goal barrage in a span of 9:02 midway through the first quarter until early in the second quarter. Sophomore Paris Gail-Isaacs scored her first career goal, coming on a penalty corner, to even the match at 1-all at the 6:38 mark. In the 11th minute, Luna Prieri scored the go-ahead goal. She also assisted on Josefina Tomasi's tally in the 16th minute. Standout freshman Clarisa Iudicello made it a 4-1 Lady Flames lead with her team-leading seventh goal of the campaign, assisted by Kyleigh Faust, at the 21:53 mark.
