Turning Point
Despite attempting 22 shots in the first half to the Lancers' zero shots, Liberty only led 2-0 at the half. In the first half, Mia Santana scored her first career goal in the 12th minute. Santana's shot on a Liberty penalty corner hit off a Lancers defender's stick and went into the top left side of the cage.
Lady Flames standout freshman Clarisa Iudicello scored all three of her goals after intermission, coming in the 36th, 50th and 58th minutes. Iudicello's goal to complete the hat trick at the 57:35 mark came on a spectacular setup from Morena Giacosa to the stick of Griffiths. The senior one-timed a pass to Iudicello in the circle, who dribbled twice in the air and fired a shot past Longwood goalkeeper Sophie Mooldjik. Iudicello's third goal put Liberty ahead 7-0. Julieta Tornati tacked on her second penalty stroke goal of the year, her fourth total tally of the campaign, in the final two minutes (58:04) to bring the final outcome to 8-0.
Freshman Alexia Guedouar also found the back of the net for the first time in her collegiate career today, scoring on a feed from Pia Iapichino at the 41:16 mark of the match. Early in the second quarter in the 19th minute, Iapichino scored her second goal of the year, assisted by Tornati.
