Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
Liberty University became the right place for me immediately when I stepped on campus. The beauty of the school and the Blue Ridge Mountains, combined with the environment filled with the Holy Spirit, and the culture of the field hockey team made my decision to come to Liberty quite easy.
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I love it when our team does Chapel before our games, and we get to worship together. Worshiping with my teammates reminds me of the real reason why we play field hockey and that is because of Jesus. Following chapel, we go back to the locker room to get ready for our games and dancing with my teammates during that time always gets me super excited to get on the field.
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
My mother because she has dedicated herself to taking care of my siblings and I and anyone else around us. She inspires me to think more about others and to see Jesus in everyone.
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
I think overall just being able to play division one field hockey at a high level after only picking up a stick after freshman year is my biggest accomplishment. I never really got the chance to accumulate awards and player rankings, but I played through it and came out as a Liberty field hockey player which is truly a blessing from the Lord.
Do you have any relatives who are playing or have played college or professional sports? (Names, relation to you, what/where they played)?
My dad, Matthew Bucksar, played football at East Strousburg.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
I like to go to the gym, especially spin class. I also like to go hiking.
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
I have 2 Dobermans, Gingie is a 2 year old girl and Apollo is an 7 month old boy. They are from the same parents but not the same litter!
