
Liberty Takes on No. 8 Clemson in the NCAA Championship

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty (14-3-4) will take on No. 8 seed Clemson (7-5-5) in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship on Friday at 6 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, with tickets available at https://libertyflames.co/4i3JXy0.
Liberty secured the Conference USA automatic qualifying bid for the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship with a 3-0 win over No. 8 seed Missouri State. Clemson secured both meetings with a 4-0 triumph in 2007 and a 5-0 victory in 2018.

- The Lady Flames most recently visited No. 4 Georgia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Despite a goal from Ivy Garner and a stellar performance from goalkeeper Ainsley Leja, Liberty fell 2-1 on the road.
- Liberty secured its second Conference USA Championship title and automatic qualifying bid in three seasons, topping No. 8 seed Missouri State 3-0 in the title game.

- No. 2 seed Liberty secured its second CUSA title in three seasons. The Lady Flames joined CUSA in 2023 and won the title in their first season.
- With five goals in three games, Ivy Garner bested UAB's Jenny Rynders' record of four goals in a single CUSA Championship tournament set in 2004.
- Freshman Lauren Flax scored two first-half goals in the title game to help secure the championship.
- Forward Ivy Garner and defender Lauren Littleton defended their CUSA Preseason Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors with both the CUSA Regular Season Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and the CUSA Championship Offensive and Defensive MVPs.
- Liberty allowed one goal across three CUSA Championship games, only allowing a goal in the third minute of the quarterfinal game against Louisiana Tech. Liberty held its opponent scoreless across the next 267:15 of the tournament.
- The Lady Flames' defense conceded a total of seven shots with just four shots on goal allowed across three CUSA Championship contests.
- Ivy Garner and Bri Myers were selected to the CUSA All-Tournament after also being selected last season.

- Liberty has won nine straight contests and is unbeaten (9-0-2) in its last 11 games.
- The Lady Flames are one of four programs (St. Louis, Stanford and Xavier) with at least 14 wins in each of the past four seasons (2022-25). Over that stretch, Liberty has totaled a 49-11-13 record, going 14-3-4 (2022), 16-3-1 (2023), 15-2-4 (2024) and 14-3-4 (2025).
- Liberty hosted four ranked opponents in their non-conference schedule, including No. 17 Virginia (2-0 loss), No. 24 Virginia Tech (1-1 draw), No. 9 Penn State (3-0 loss) and No. 21 Kansas (3-2 loss).
- Liberty received the United Soccer Coaches 2024-25 Team Pinnacle award, which is given to programs that excel on the field, in sportsmanship and academically. They are the only Division I program to receive the honor in each of the past three seasons.

- The Lady Flames sport a +26 goal differential, ranking No. 20 nationally. They have scored 43 times while allowing 17 goals.

- Ivy Garner now ranks second in program history in all scoring categories, including career goals (33), assists (23) and points (89).
- Garner also now has the second most goals in a single season with 15 (Nancy Davis – 17, 1999) and points with 36 (Davis – 43, 1999).
- With a pair of game-winning goals, including four in the past five games, Garner now ranks No. 4 in the country with six game-winning goals. She is one of 11 players in the nation with six game-winning goals. Only two players (Brigid Duffy – Army and Faith Webber – Utah Valley) have seven.
- Garner ranks No. 17 in the country in points per game (1.71) and goals per game (0.71).
- Garner also ranks No. 12 in the country in shot accuracy with a .629 mark with 44 shots on goal and 70 total shots.
- CUSA All-Freshman selection, Lauren Flax has totaled four goals. Three of her scores have accounted for game-winners. In each game she has scored, she has earned the game-winning tally.
- CUSA Defensive Player of the Year, Lauren Litteton, leads all Liberty players with just under 1,700 minutes played this season, despite missing one game (20 starts). The junior has 14 full 90-minute performances this season.
- CUSA Goalkeeper of the Year, Peyton Huber (9-1-2), ranks No. 4 in the country with a 0.44 goals-against average this season. She sports a .792 save percentage with 19 saves on 62 shots faced this season.
