
BIG EAST Leader No. 7 Liberty to Face Georgetown in Road Match, Friday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – BIG EAST Conference leader Liberty, the No. 7-ranked team in the nation, will face Georgetown in a conference road match, Friday. The contest will commence at 1 p.m. at Kehoe Field in Washington, D.C.
The Lady Flames bring a 9-1 overall mark, 3-0 BIG EAST record and five-game winning streak into tomorrow's matchup with the Hoyas. Liberty bested Old Dominion 1-0 last Friday at home, followed by a 7-1 road win at No. 17 Appalachian State on Sunday. In that game, freshman Zoé Gaillard scored a program-record five goals. Gaillard was named NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention as well as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week.
Liberty (3-0 BIG EAST) is the lone unbeaten team in BIG EAST play. The Lady Flames lead Connecticut (2-1 BIG EAST), Temple (2-1 BIG EAST), Old Dominion (2-1 BIG EAST) and Villanova (2-1 BIG EAST) by a game. Georgetown (3-8, 0-3 BIG EAST) is in search of its first league win of 2025 and has lost six of its last seven games overall. The Hoyas won their most recent game, a 2-0 shutout on the road at Towson last Sunday.

- This will be the 12th all-time meeting between Liberty and Georgetown. The Lady Flames sport a perfect 11-0 mark versus the Hoyas. In 2024, Liberty upended Georgetown 6-0 in the last regular season game of the season, punching a ticket to the BIG EAST Championship for a ninth straight year. Tori Griffiths and Ellie Livingston led the way with two goals apiece.
- In addition to Zoé Gaillard's honors this week, Dara Semmartin earned her fourth BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award of the year. The sophomore from Buenos Aires, Argentina tallied one goal, two assists and four points in wins over ODU and No. 17 App State. Semmartin and the Liberty defense limited the Monarchs and Mountaineers to a total of six shots across the two games.
- The Lady Flames have been ranked among the top 10 teams in the country in each of the last five national polls. Liberty started at No. 17 in the preseason poll.

- As a team, the Lady Flames rank No. 3 nationally in shutouts per game (0.50) and are No. 7 in the country in assists per game (3.20). Liberty is also ninth nationally in goals-against-average (1.00), 12th in scoring margin (1.90) and 14th in points per game (9.00). Liberty leads the BIG EAST in all five of those statistical categories.
- Individually, Lou Combrinck (nine assists) and Semmartin (eight assists) led the charge, ranking 10th and 12th in the nation in assists per game (0.90 and 0.80). Combrinck and Semmartin rank first and second in the BIG EAST IN assists per game, and Combrinck paces the BIG EAST in points per game (1.90), ranking No. 29 in the country. Semmartin is No. 2 in the league and 31st in the nation in points per game (1.80).
- Liberty has earned 15 weekly awards through six weeks of the year – two NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention recognitions, four defensive player of the week awards, three offensive player of the week honors, two freshman of the week accolades and four weekly honor roll selections.
- The Lady Flames are 4-1 in road games in 2025. Combrinck leads Liberty with 13 points (4 g, 5 a) in those five matches, followed by Gaillard with 12 points (6 g) and Semmartin with 11 points (4 g, 3 a). Liberty is averaging 3.60 goals per game on the road while surrendering 1.40 goals per match.
