
Lady Flames Ready for Weekend Matches at Middle Tennessee

Liberty (15-4, 3-3 CUSA) heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for a pair of matches at Middle Tennessee (9-9, 1-5), this weekend.

- The Lady Flames split a pair of home matches against Kennesaw State last weekend, while Middle Tennessee has lost five straight CUSA matches after opening conference play with a 3-0 sweep over KSU, Sept. 26.
- Liberty, at 15-4, would set a new program NCAA Division I-era record for best 20-match start to a season with a win on Friday. The Lady Flames started 15-5 in 1996, 2008 and 2014.
- On Saturday against KSU, Alison Bierwagen (24 assists, 10 digs) and Charli Crowson (13, 12) became the first pair of Liberty setters to have a double-double in the same match since Amaya Williams and Hannah Morris, Sept. 21, 2019 at Northern Arizona.
- Liberty's 10-match winning streak, which ended last Saturday at UTEP, was its longest since a 12-match winning streak during the 2022 season.
- Jenna Otts leads Liberty with 14 double-digit kill matches, scoring 10 or more kills in 12 out of the last 13 contests.

- Liberty hit .305 on Friday against Kennesaw State. It was the team's eighth match hitting .300 or better this season, the most .300 matches by Liberty since the 2022 season (11).
- Paige Overcash (vs. Rutgers, KSU) and Jenna Otts (at West Virginia, vs. Louisiana Tech) now both have two matches this season where they hit .500 or better with 12 or more kills.
- On Aug. 30, Liberty overcame a 2-0 deficit for the first time since 2016, beating Rutgers. Liberty's six five-set wins are its most since posting six five-set victories during the full 2012 season.
- Liberty received Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors each of the first five weeks of the 2025 season, in Paige Overcash (three times), Carly O'Brien (Sept. 22) and Jenna Otts (Sept. 29).
- Jeremy White is in his first season at Liberty. He served as head coach at Southeastern Louisiana for the last six years, posting a 113-58 record and leading the Lions to two NCAA Tournaments. Last year, Southeastern posted a nation-leading 24-match winning streak.
- Former Tulsa head coach Ryan Wills (2014-22) serves as an assistant coach. Mackenzie Martin is in her first year as an assistant coach after finishing her playing career at The Citadel last season.
- Liberty welcomes 11 newcomers this season, including four transfers. Graduate students Zoe Hall (TCU) and Shyia Richardson (Louisiana) join the Lady Flames, along with junior Molly Littlefield (Gardner-Webb) and sophomore Layla Collins (Virginia Tech).
- Freshman Kayla O'Brien joins her sister, sophomore Carly O'Brien, on the Lady Flames' roster. The last sisters to play for Liberty Volleyball in the same year were Abby and Kate Phillips in 2021.
