LYNCHBURG, Va. – Former North Alabama beach volleyball head coach Kaleb VanDePerre has joined the Liberty Volleyball staff as an assistant coach, announced by Head Coach Jeremy White.
"Kaleb is an exciting addition to our coaching staff," White said. "He brings with him head coaching and Liberty experience as well as outside the box concepts given his time in both the men's indoor and beach volleyball games. I know Kaleb will be a great addition to our culture and a tremendous role model for our athletes. We feel honored and blessed to bring Kaleb and Piper, as well as their two sons Hudson and Cooper, back into the Liberty family."
VanDePerre spent four seasons (2023-26) as beach volleyball head coach at North Alabama, compiling a 79-58 (.577) overall record. Under his guidance, the Lions posted their three highest single-season win totals in program history.
"I feel so blessed to be heading back to the greatest university on the planet!" VanDePerre said. "I'm incredibly grateful to Jeremy for the opportunity to join a tremendous staff and learn from someone who has proven to be a winner at every level. I'm excited to get into the gym and pour everything I can into this program and everyone who is a part of it."
He opened his time at UNA with a 20-16 record in 2023, a program record which his team then broke with a 22-13 mark the following season.
During the 2024 season, VanDePerre was named ASUN Conference Coach of the Year. That season also saw the Lions earn two ASUN All-Conference first team pairs. Also in 2024, North Alabama posted their first-ever wins over Power Four teams (Nebraska and Oregon), while also registering its first win over a nationally-ranked team (No. 20 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi).
The Lions earned a 22-14 record in 2026, including a 6-2 ASUN Conference mark. It was UNA's third 20-win campaign in the last four seasons, all under VanDePerre's tutelage.
VanDePerre went to UNA from Liberty, where he served as beach volleyball head coach since 2016.
During his first stint at Liberty, VanDePerre led the beach program at the club level, and helped the Flames secure many program firsts, including its first victory over a Division I program in 2021. He also served as the director of marketing and promotions for club sports at the school and was the men's volleyball head coach the past four seasons, leading the Flames to their first ever No. 1 national ranking and finishing 3rd at the 2021 NCVF national championships.
VanDePerre graduated from LU in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in 2015 with a master's degree in sport management. While at Liberty, he was a member of the beach volleyball team, before taking over the program in 2016 and leading the men's beach team to its highest-ever finish at the USA Collegiate Beach Championships.
He also coached high school indoor club volleyball for several seasons in Lynchburg, Va., before taking over the men's indoor program. VanDePerre was also the director of VA Sand Volleyball, a year-round beach club for juniors in the Central Virginia region.
