
Lady Flames Rally for 2nd Straight 3-2 Win Over Bears

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -Â The Liberty volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit, topping Missouri State 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9), Saturday at Hammons Student Center. Â
The Lady Flames improve to 20-7, 8-6 in Conference USA matches, with their fourth win in a row. Liberty won both matches in five sets over Missouri State this weekend. The Bears fall to 10-15, 5-9 in CUSA play after their fourth consecutive loss.

     The Lady Flames close out the regular season with a pair of home matches against Western Kentucky, Friday and Saturday at Liberty Arena.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit Missouri State .291-.219 for the match. The Lady Flames also led 71-59 in kills, 89-72 in digs and 14-6 in blocks. The Bears led 10-5 in aces.
- Paige Overcash led all players with 19 kills while also posting a career-high eight blocks. Jenna Otts scored 17 kills at a .400 pace, while Carly O'Brien totaled 15 kills, three aces and a career-high 24 digs. Zoe Hall tied her career high with nine blocks, while Audrey Heiring sent down a career-high eight kills. Alison Bierwagen registered 40 assists and nine digs, while Molly Littlefield collected 12 digs and Aubrey Acheson totaled 11 digs.
- Peyton McKee scored 14 kills for Missouri State, while Chloe Judd sent down 12 kills and Lizanyela Lopez, 11. Four Bears reached double figures in digs, led by Brooke Eslinger's 19.
- Trailing the match, 2-1, while being behind 19-14 in set four, the Lady Flames got a spark from Heiring, who scored three kills during a set-ending 8-2 run for Liberty.
- As was the case on Friday, Liberty built a big early lead in the fifth set, leading 10-4. The Bears inched as close as 12-9, but the Lady Flames closed out the match with a 3-0 spurt.
- The Flames secured their 24th 20-win season in program history and first since 2022.
- Liberty is 2-0 against Missouri State in volleyball. Â
- Liberty is 9-2 in five-set matches this season, while Missouri State is 1-5 in five-setters.
- Today was the 13th time this season that O'Brien, Otts and Overcash all reached double figures in kills.
- Otts has scored 10 or more kills a team-high 24 times this season, including in each of the last 11 matches. Her 11-match streak of double-digit kill matches is Liberty's longest since Hannah Weidner scored 10 or more kills in 19 straight matches, Sept. 6 through Oct. 18, 2014.
- O'Brien's 14 double-doubles this season are the most by a Lady Flame since 2022, when Delaney Dilfer totaled 17 double-doubles.
