Liberty picks up its first BIG EAST Conference win of 2024, improving to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The victory snaps a two-game losing skid. Meanwhile, Providence drops to 5-4 on the year and 1-1 in league competition.

Liberty got off to a fast start with a pair of goals in the game's first 12 minutes to take a commanding 2-0 lead after a quarter of play. Martu Cian found Josefina Tomasi in front for a goal just 1:35 into the match for a 1-0 lead for the guests. In the 12th minute, Lou Combrinck bolstered the lead to 2-0. The junior collected a pass from Ava Murphy, turned and fired a reverse shot into the bottom right corner.
The Lady Flames maintained the two-goal advantage until the 52nd minute when the Friars' Hannah McKenney broke the shutout with her second goal of the season. Providence earned a penalty corner in the 54th minute but came up empty. The Friars pulled their goalkeeper with just under four minutes to play, but the Liberty defense held Providence without a shot the rest of the way.
