
Liberty Shuts Out Marshall 2-0 for Seventh Win

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Liberty women's soccer moved to 7-0 on the season by shutting out Marshall 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
Ava Goodman and Rachel DeRuby provided the needed offense, while the Liberty defense excelled, not allowing a single shot to the Thundering Herd.
With the win, the Lady Flames extended their NCAA Division I leading unbeaten streak to 20 games (17-0-3).
Goodman opened the game by slipping a shot by Marshall's keeper, Alexis Wolgmuth, during the 27th minute of the game.DeRuby extended the lead to 2-0 after running by the defense to set up a feed from Ivy Garner. The senior stepped around a sliding Wolgemuth to deposit the ball into an empty net.
The Liberty defense was key, earning its fourth clean sheet of the season. The Lady Flames did not allow a single shot in the game, besting their previous season low of two shots allowed to Tennessee Tech on Aug. 25.
