Hansford’s Two Goals Push Liberty to 3-0 Road Victory Over UNCW
8/27/2023 4:11:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Forward Ivy Garner opened the scoring after defender Bridie Herman headed a goal kick from goalkeeper Ainsley Leja toward Garner. The sophomore received the ball just outside the 18-yard box and dribbled in, sneaking a shot past UNCW's keeper for a 1-0 lead.
Hansford netted her first goal of the contest after a shot by midfielder Rachel DeRuby bounced around in front of the net in the first half. To ice the game, the forward forced a turnover at midfield and ran past the Seahawks' defense to deposit a goal from the top of the penalty box.
The Lady Flames defense did not allow a shot by UNCW until the 61st minute of the game.
Scoring Summary

Thoughts from Head Coach Lang Wedemeyer
"It was a really hard situation for the team to play on Friday night, have a long bus ride, and then play a fresh team in high heat and humidity," Coach Wedemeyer said. "We played a great game, we created tons of chances, and we got solid contributions from almost the whole team.
