
Lady Flames Defeat Bulldogs in Straight Sets

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Liberty overcame a 10-point deficit in a 25-23 set-one win on the way to a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-14, 25-14) over Louisiana Tech, Friday at Liberty Arena.
The Lady Flames improved to 15-11, 8-6 in CUSA play with their fourth consecutive win. Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech fell to 6-20, 1-13 in conference matches after losing their ninth straight match.

Liberty will finish up its regular-season schedule with its third trip to Texas of the year, taking on UTEP on Friday and Saturday in El Paso, Texas.

- For the match, Liberty outhit Louisiana Tech .260-.126. The Lady Flames led in kills (39-29), assists (37-26), aces (13-4) and digs (52-44) while both teams posted eight blocks.
- Madison Blane scored a career-high 16 kills at a .625 pace to lead all players while also adding five blocks and a career-best four aces. Delaney Dilfer dished out 34 assists in addition to four aces and nine digs. Erica Lowery collected 16 digs, while Julia Mangum posted five blocks. Taylor Bates registered career highs in both kills (seven) and digs (eight), while Kamryn Bacus contributed nine kills and eight digs.
- Sa'Myah Medford led the Bulldogs with eight kills on 10 attempts while adding four blocks. Lauren Albrecht dished out 12 assists while McKenzie Johnson collected a match-high 22 digs.
- Louisiana Tech jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first set. However, Liberty went on an 11-1 run to tie the score at 20-20, getting an ace from Lowery and two from Dilfer during the surge. The visitors quickly regained the lead at 21-20 and again at 22-21, but were unable to hold on as Liberty rallied to win 25-23.
- Liberty now leads the all-time volleyball series with Louisiana Tech at 2-1, as the Bulldogs won the only previous meeting 3-0 on Sept. 10, 2004 in Austin, Texas.
- Liberty is now 7-1 in its last eight matches after starting out CUSA play at 1-5.
- The Lady Flames are 12-8 in sets decided by two points this season.
- After serving up 11 aces last night, Liberty registered a season-high 13 aces today. It is the first time since Sept. 3-4, 2021 (vs. Duquesne and Idaho) that the Lady Flames posted 10 or more aces in back-to-back matches.
