
Liberty Posts 1st CUSA Sweep, 3-0 at Jax State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Liberty cruised to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19) victory over Jacksonville State on Friday at Pete Mathews Coliseum, posting its first Conference USA sweep.
The Lady Flames improved to 9-10, 2-5 in CUSA play with their second win in the last three matches. Meanwhile, Jax State fell to 4-13, 2-5 in conference matches with its five straight setback.

Notable Numbers
- For the match, Liberty outhit the Gamecocks, .259-.041. The hosts served up four aces to 13 service errors, while Liberty had five aces and seven service errors. The Lady Flames led in kills (33-27), assists (31-26), digs (39-28) and blocks (10-6).
- Madison Blane tied for the match high with 10 kills, needing just 12 attempts with zero errors (.833) while adding five digs and four blocks. Delaney Dilfer registered a double-double with a match-high 27 assists and 10 digs, while Kamryn Bacus scored eight kills and Zoi Sherolli collected nine digs. Lily Wagner served up a match-high two aces.
- Kaylee Moseley led Jax State with 10 kills, while Ellie Garrett dished out 21 assists. Maddie Stayer posted four blocks while Brooklin Shiffli collected 10 digs.
- Liberty sailed to 25-17 and 25-15 wins in the first two sets and met the most resistance in set three. The Gamecocks inched to within one at 14-13 but could get no closer from that point on, as the Lady Flames outscored them 11-6 to take the set 25-19.
- Liberty, making its first appearance at the Pete Mathews Coliseum, earned its first win over Jacksonville State in volleyball. The Gamecocks had won the previous two meetings, including a 3-2 win at Liberty on Oct. 1, 2022.
- Jacksonville State (2021) and Liberty (2022) both finished as runner-up to FGCU in the ASUN Volleyball Championship in the last two years, respectively. Both Liberty and Jax State are in their first year in Conference USA.
- Liberty held Jacksonville State to just 51 points between the three sets, its most dominant sweep since posting a 25-21, 25-17, 25-7 sweep at Bellarmine, Nov. 13, 2022.
- The Lady Flames posted 10 or more blocks for the third match in a row and sixth time this season.
- Jacksonville State's .041 was the lowest by any Liberty opponent this season.
- Blane's .833 hitting percentage tonight was the highest by a Lady Flame (minimum 10 kills) since Loren Thomas hit .846 (11-0-13) at Gardner-Webb, Oct. 9, 2009.
- Blane has scored 10 or more kills in each of her last five matches, the longest streak of double-digit kill contests since Lydia Burts' 10 straight matches of 10 or more kills, Oct. 1 through Nov. 4, 2022.
- Dilfer, who recorded her team-leading sixth double-double of the season and 29th of her career, became the 11th player in program history to record 2,000 or more assists as a Lady Flame.
- Kalin Hubbard received her first collegiate playing time late in set two, getting a block assist on her first play and scoring a kill as well.
