Turning Point
Today's action-packed game saw Liberty take a two-goal lead after one period, followed by three straight goals from Duke in a four-plus minute span in the second period to take its first lead of the day. Liberty knotted the score at 3-all in the 27th minute with a goal from Julieta Tornati.
In the second half, the Lady Flames regained the lead midway through the third frame (37:04 mark) on a beautiful reverse strike into the left corner from freshman Alexia Guedouar. The Blue Devils answered back midway through the fourth quarter, with Alaina McVeigh scoring on a penalty corner rebound from the left post at the 52:24 mark.
Both teams managed three shots in overtime, with Duke earning three penalty corners to Liberty's none. The Lady Flames' defense fended up the Blue Devils' attempts, helping send the match to a shootout, Liberty's first of 2026. Duke converted on 3-of-4 shootout attempts, with Callie Rogers' fourth attempt for the Blue Devils trickling off Liberty goalkeeper Diane Saint Martin and rolling into the cage to secure the victory. The Lady Flames were 0-of-3 on their attempts in the shootout.
