Five Lady Flames Named to CSC Academic All-District Team®

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty senior Brynn McManus along with junior Paige Doerr and sophomores Danner Allen, Camden Anders and Gabby Mike, have all been named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Softball Team®, as announced today by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
To earn inclusion on the team, a student-athlete must have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games or started 66 percent of their team's games (pitchers need 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched) and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
As a result of their inclusion on the academic all-district team, they will now appear on the ballot for the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Softball Team®. The first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 16.
Liberty has now received 28 CSC Academic All-District® honors in program history. Megan Robinson was the first Academic All-America® recipient in program history, being named to the first team in 2015 and earning third-team honors in 2014. Caroline Hudson was named Academic All-America® third team in 2023. Last year, Rachel Roupe earned Academic All-America® first team
Doerr and McManus both receive their second career Academic All-District honors. This is the first time in program history that Liberty has had five Academic All-District players in the same year.
Doerr (Law & Policy: Pre-Law) and Anders (Business Administration & Data Analysis: Interdisciplinary Business) both hold a 4.0 GPA. Mike (Psychology) boasts a 3.88 GPA, while Allen (Sport Management) holds a 3.81 GPA and McManus' (Business Administration & Data Analysis: Finance) GPA is 3.72.
Earlier this year, Anders and Doerr were both voted to the Conference USA All-Academic Team.
A native of Charlotte Court House, Va., Allen had a strong season in the circle, particularly in conference play. She went 4-0 with a 4.10 ERA and two shutouts in CUSA games this season. She pitched six shutout innings in a win over Syracuse, striking out seven. On March 13, she tossed a three-hit shutout during which she struck out a career-high nine batters. Then, she pitched her first career hitter, April 3 at Missouri State. Allen picked up her last win of the season, May 2 at Kennesaw State.
Hailing from Valdosta, Ga., Anders emerged as the staff ace in her first season since transferring from Georgia Tech. She finished the season with a 15-7 record, 2.74 ERA and three shutouts overall, including a 9-3 record and 2.26 ERA in conference play. Anders was named to the CUSA All-Tournament Team, going 3-1 with a 1.40 ERA and .138 opponents batting average at the conference tournament. She opened the CUSA Softball Championship with three straight wins, including back-to-back shutouts. Her 24 2/3 scoreless inning streak was the longest by a Lady Flame since the 2021 season.
Doerr, hailing from Coburg, Ore., provided leadership both in the outfield and at the plate this season. Overall, she batted .297 with eight doubles, two triples, four homers and 27 RBI. Doerr batted .329 with five doubles, two triples, two homers and 17 RBI in Conference USA play this year. She was at her best at the end of the year, getting at least one hit in each of the last seven games. During the CUSA Softball Championship, she hit .500 with a .545 on base percentage. Doerr led the Lady Flames with nine outfield assists, the most by a Lady Flame since 2001.
McManus, a native of McMinnville, Ore., provided a power bat near the top of the order this season. For the year, she batted .316 with six doubles, 11 homers and 43 RBI. In conference play, she hit .337 with four doubles, six homers and a team-best 26 RBI. During the middle of the season, she tied a program record with six straight multiple-hit games. McManus was at her best in the CUSA Softball Championship, batting a team-best .615 with one double, one triple, two homers and six RBI while being named to the all-tournament team. She was named CUSA Player of the Week twice this year.
Altamonte Springs, Fla., native Gabby Mike pitched well during her first season as a Lady Flame after transferring from Duke. In conference play, she went 1-4 with a 2.52 ERA and a .256 opponents' batting average. On March 31, she pitched a 1-2-3 inning against the high-powered North Carolina offense, striking out all three batters. She earned her first career victory on Feb. 14, allowing just three hits in a 6-1 victory over Georgia Southern. Later in the season, she picked up a four-inning relief victory at UTEP. Mike struck out a career-high seven batters on April 2 at Missouri State.
The Lady Flames finished the season with a 29-28 record, including 18-9 in CUSA. Liberty entered the 2026 CUSA Softball Championship as the No. 3 seed and won its first three games to advance to the winner-take-all final for the third year in a row, where they fell to No. 1 seed Jax State, 7-4. Among season highlights were a 10-9 upset win over No. 13 Virginia Tech, giving the Lady Flames at least one win over a Top 25 team in each of the last nine years.
