
Liberty Downs UTEP 8-1 for 5th Straight Win

With the win, Liberty's fifth in a row, the Lady Flames improve to 12-15 overall and 5-2 in Conference USA play. Meanwhile, the Miners sustained their fifth straight loss, falling to 9-17, 1-6 in conference games.

Turning Point
- Liberty scored four times in the top of the second to take command, getting RBI hits from Brooke Roberts, Savanah Whatley and Ella Fox.
- UTEP got on the board with a homer by Iliana Munoz in the bottom of the third. However, that was all the scoring the Miners could manage as Liberty pulled away, 8-1.
- Liberty led UTEP 11-4 in hits. The Lady Flames left 10 runners on base, compared to seven stranded by the Miners.
- Gabby Mike (2-6) earned the win, tossing four innings of one-hit relief during which she walked one and fanned one. Starter Danner Allen allowed one run on three hits, walking three and striking out four.
- Tatyana Vega (8-7) drew the loss, allowing four runs on four hits, with two walks in two innings pitched before giving way to Ryann Presswood.
- Savannah Nash went 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored, while Savanah Whatley batted 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and one run. Ella Fox went 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI, while Savannah Jessee batted 2-for-3. Dani Lee recorded a pinch-hit home run.
- Liberty is now 8-1 all-time against UTEP in softball, including 3-1 at Helen on Troy Softball Complex.
- Nash hit her 24th collegiate homer and first as a Lady Flame since transferring from Saint Francis (Pa.).
- Dani Lee hit her first career homer. She is the 10th active Lady Flame to hit at least one career home run.
- Lee became the first Liberty player with a pinch-hit home run since Sierra Kersten at New Mexico State, May 10, 2024.
- Whatley posted her second career two-double game and first since March 19, 2025 at North Carolina, one year to the day.
The Lady Flames and Miners will continue this week's three-game series tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET (6 p.m. MT) at Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
