
Missouri State Edges Liberty 4-3 in CUSA Opener

The visiting Bears took their first lead of the contest in the top of the eighth on a two-run home run by catcher Carter Bergman.
In the bottom of the ninth, first baseman Riley DeCandio walked and was moved into scoring position at second base on a sacrifice bunt by pinch hitter Easton Swofford. Missouri State reliever Tyler Charlton then proceeded to hold the runner at second as he recorded the final two outs of the game to close out the victory.
Shortstop Tanner Marsh led the Flames with two hits, an RBI double and a triple, a walk and a run scored.
Liberty falls to 12-4 overall and 0-1 in CUSA. Missouri State moves to 11-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
