ATHENS, GA. – Third baseman Jordan Jaffe had three hits, including an RBI triple and a home run, as the Liberty Flames defeated the Boston College Eagles 8-3 to move into the NCAA Athens, Ga., Regional final Sunday afternoon at Foley Field. With the victory, the Flames tie the program record for wins with 43.
Jaffe went 3-for-4 in the game, driving in two runs and scoring three times to lead the Flames. The third baseman had two key extra-base hits, tripling during the Flames' five-run third inning and later, belting his third home run of the season in the fifth inning.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Liberty batted around, scoring five runs on four hits and taking advantage of two Boston College errors.
Liberty pitchers Jaxon Lucas and Jake Potts combined to hold the Eagles to three runs on seven hits.
Left fielder Nick Barone also had two RBI singles for the Flames, while center fielder Josh Campos hit his 12th home run of the season.
Liberty moves 43-20, tying the program record for wins in a season. Boston College is eliminated from the regional and finishes the year at 37-23.
