Liberty Stands in 5th Place after Day 1 of Rod Myers Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – The Flames stand in fifth place following their first round of the 2025-26 season as they open their fall tournament schedule on Friday at the Rod Myers Invitational.
Liberty carded a 4-over par 292 at the Duke University Golf Club (par 72, 7,146 yards). The Flames are in the middle of the pack of the 10-team field.
Liberty is one shot clear of sixth-place Harvard (5-over par 293) and is six shots behind fourth-place Indiana (2-under par 286).
Tournament host Duke leads the field following a 6-under par 282. The Blue Devils are one shot ahead of UNCW (5-under par 283) and three shots clear of Lipscomb (3-under par 285).
The sophomore was 2-over par through 11 holes of play, but posted back-to-back birdies at No. 14 (par 5, 551 yards) and No. 15 (par 3, 216 yards) to get back to level par for the day.
Josh Ryan and Luke Libbey are one shot behind Lugiano and share 29th place following an opening round 1-over par 73. Ryan ranked fourth in the 72-man field with five birdies today.
Liberty also has three individuals competing in the field. Sophomore Blake Hogan and freshman Silas Haarer are both tied for 13th place after opening with even par rounds of 72 to match Lugiano's efforts.
The Flames will be among the first golfers on the course on Saturday, beginning tomorrow's second round at 8:30 a.m. off the No. 1 tee. Liberty will be paired with Indiana and Harvard.
