
Liberty Opens Conference Play Hosting CUSA Newcomer Missouri State

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Lady Flames soccer team (5-3-2) turns the page to Conference USA action when it welcomes Missouri State (3-5-1) to Osborne Stadium on Friday. Kick off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with men's soccer (7 p.m. start).
Missouri State will be competing in its first-ever CUSA matchup after joining the league this summer. The Bears will be the fourth team Liberty will be facing that won their conference championship in 2024 and the sixth that made an appearance in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Missouri State went 13-5-3 (9-0-1 MVC) last season en route to a Missouri Valley Championship title. The Bears fell 2-1 to Iowa in the first round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
Liberty prepares to host the 2025 CUSA Women's Soccer Championship later this season. The Lady Flames (15-2-4, 6-1-2 CUSA) secured a share of the CUSA Regular Season title and entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed.
The Lady Flames are coming off a 1-1-0 week at home with a 4-0 shutout win over Queens and a 3-2 defeat against No. 21 Kansas. Friday's contest will mark the final contest of five consecutive home games. Liberty is 2-2-0 in that current stretch and owns a 2-3-1 record overall at home this season. All non-win results have come against ranked opponents, including No. 17 Virginia (2-0 loss), No. 24 Virginia Tech (1-1 draw) and No. 9 Penn State (3-1 loss).
