
No. 24 DBU Holds Off Liberty 6-4 Thursday

The CUSA-leading Patriots broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the fourth inning and added two more in the fifth on center fielder Nathan Humphreys' two-run home run.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Liberty rallied with three straight hits with one out. With Michael Roberston aboard after a double, third baseman Easton Swofford hit his first home run of the season to move to within two runs at 6-4.
Liberty shortstop Tanner Marsh followed with a single. However, DBU reliever Jerrod Jenkins got the next Flames' batter to ground into a double play to end the game.
Swofford led all hitters in the game with three hits. He had two RBI and scored two runs. Marsh added two hits and drove in a run for the Flames.
Liberty falls to 29-24 overall and 9-16 in CUSA play. Dallas Baptist moves to 37-13 overall and 20-5 in conference play.
