FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Despite an altered schedule due to severe weather conditions in the area, Liberty remains in the upper half of the leaderboard at the Mason Rudolph Championship.
Heavy rains in the Franklin area on Thursday night left the Vanderbilt Legends Club (par 71, 7,112 yards) in an unplayable condition entering the day.
With the complex having 36 total holes available for play, the tournament course set up was split with nine holes contested on the South Course and nine other holes played on the North Course.
This year's event also changed to continuous play, with teams attempting to play as many holes as possible on Friday and Saturday. When play was halted due to darkness on Friday evening, most teams had finished roughly 27 holes.
No. 3 Ole Miss leads the 14-team field at 22-under par, followed by No. 18 Vanderbilt, who is one shot back at 21-under par.
No. 2 Auburn is in third place at 14-under par, followed closely behind by No. 31 Mississippi State, who is 13-under par.
Liberty is currently in seventh place at 1-over par and is two shots behind Kentucky, who ended the day at 1-under par.
Andrew Gregory and Michael Lugiano paced Liberty during the first round, with each golfer carding a 1-under par 69.
Gregory has continued the trend during the second round, as he is currently tied for 11th place with an overall 4-under par.
Lugiano and Ike Joy are next on Liberty's roster, as they finished play on Friday tied for 32nd place with an overall 2-over par score.
Players will be sent back on the course at 8 a.m. CST on Saturday morning and tournament officials hope to complete the 54-hole event by the end of the day on Saturday.
