Lugiano Named CUSA Men’s Golfer of the Week

Following his best finish of the fall season, Liberty's Michael Lugiano has been named this week's Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week.
Lugiano led Liberty's fall finale performance at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational earlier this week, finishing tied for fourth place.
The sophomore carded an 11-under par 205 (68-67-70), posting three consecutive under-par rounds at the Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. He finished just three shots off the overall individual winning score.
The fourth-place showing was Lugiano's second career top-five finish of his young collegiate golf career. It also marked a new career best 54-hole total.
The event's total bested his 9-under par 207 at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, last season, where he won the individual tournament.
The native of Jackson Township, Pa., led the 84-man field at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational with 20 birdies. He also ranked second in the field in par-3 scoring (-2/2.83 scoring average) and tied for fifth in par-4 scoring (-4/3.87 scoring average).
Lugiano's performance capped off Liberty's four-tournament fall schedule. The Flames will return to the course on Feb. 2-3 when they participate in the Sea Best Invitational at the Atlantic Beach Country Club in Atlantic Beach, Fla.
