Flames to Wrap Fall Schedule at Quail Valley

LYNCHBURG, Va. β Coming off a quick turnaround, Liberty will wrap up its four-event fall schedule at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, starting with 36 holes of play on Sunday.

Liberty played its third event of the fall season earlier this week where the Flames finished in sixth place at The Bryson Invitational, wrapping up play on Wednesday.

The team carded a 12-under par 852 (288-280-284) at the Daniel Island Club β Ralston Creek Course (par 72, 7,446 yards) in Charleston, S.C.

The Flames' sixth-place finish saw Liberty finish ahead of No. 16 Charlotte by four strokes and No. 37 Cincinnati by two strokes. Liberty was listed at No. 103 in the first Scoreboard powered by clippd national rankings.

This is the fourth-straight season this event has appeared on Liberty' schedule, but it will be only the third time the Flames have competed in the event.

Liberty finished in second place with a 36-under par 828 in 2022 and tied for sixth place with an 18-under par 846 in 2023.

Last year's event was canceled before it started due to hurricane weather in the Florida area. It was the second of two events the Flames lost due to hurricanes last fall season.

Two of Liberty's five starting players have previous experience at this event and at the Quail Valley Golf Club (par 72, 7,460 yards) in Vero Beach, Fla.

Josh Ryan has posted a pair of top 10 finishes thanks to a 68.7 event stroke average. He finished tied for seventh in 2022 with a 10-under par 206 (68-72-66) and in fifth place in 2023 with an 11-under par 205 (71-65-69).

Ike Joy also competed in the 2023 event, finishing tied for 36th place with a 1-under par 215 (72-70-73).

Ryan leads the Flames on the season with a 71.00 stroke average, followed by Michael Lugiano (71.33) and Silas Haarer (71.89).
