BLACKSBURG, Va. – No. 11 Virginia Tech earned a 6-0 shutout victory over No. 20 Liberty, Wednesday at Tech Softball Park.
The Hokies (29-5) ran their winning streak to 10 games, while the Lady Flames (31-7) saw their eight-game winning streak snapped. Virginia Tech won both meetings against Liberty this season, with Emma Lemley tossing a no-hitter on Feb. 26 in Lynchburg and a three-hitter tonight.

Turning Point
- The Lady Flames loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first on a Savannah Woodard double and walks to Rachel Roupe and McManus. Lemley kept Liberty off the board with a strikeout and a groundout.
- Cori McMillan homered to lead off the bottom of the first, before a Bre Peck RBI single made it 2-0. The Hokies added three in the third and one in the fifth while Lemley pitched seven shutout innings.
- Virginia Tech outhit Liberty 10-3 for the game, with the Hokies committing the game's lone error. The Lady Flames left nine runners on base, compared to seven stranded for the Hokies.
- Lemley (13-3) tossed her sixth shutout of the season, allowing three hits while walking four and striking out nine.
- Elena Escobar (13-3) drew the loss, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out two in one inning. Paige Bachman yielded four runs on five hits, walking three and fanning two in three innings. Kaylan Yoder pitched two innings of one-hit relief, allowing one walk and striking out three.
- Jordan Lynch went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and one run scored. Cor McMillan batted 2-for-4 with a homer, one RBI and one run, while Kylie Aldridge hit 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
- Savannah Woodard (double), Paige Doerr and Savannah Jessee all went 1-for-3
- Virginia Tech leads the all-time series against Liberty 44-16. The Hokies have won each of the last eight meetings.
- The Hokies are the only team to shut out Liberty this season, doing so twice.
- Virginia Tech is 9-4 against Top 25 teams this season, while Liberty is 1-5 versus nationally-ranked opponents.
- Liberty was ranked No. 20 in the D1Softball Top 25 Poll this week.
- Roupe is now in sole possession of Liberty's program record with 110 career walks. She surpassed Autumn Bishop (2017-21), who had 108 career walks. Roupe has reached base safely in each of the last 10 games.
