Turning Point
- Longwood led Liberty 2-0 after the first inning, but the Lady Flames capitalized on three Lancer errors in the second, taking a 3-2 lead.
- With Liberty leading 6-2 in the top of the fourth, Longwood loaded the bases with nobody out. Reliever Paige Bachman got out of the jam, allowing no runs.
- Liberty outhit Longwood 12-6 for the game. The Lancers committed three errors, compared to one for the Lady Flames. The guests left eight runners on base, while the hosts stranded three.
- Bachman (6-1) earned the win, allowing one hit, walking one and fanning five in four innings of relief. Starter Tyler Oubre yielded two runs (one earned) on five hits, with two walks and one strikeout in three innings.
- Morgan Strickland (0-5) drew the loss, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits, fanning one in three innings before Cierra Gawryluk pitched the final three frames.
- Savanah Whatley went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, while KK Madrey, Paige Doerr (triple, 2 RBI, 2 runs) and Rachel Craine (2 doubles, 2 RBI) all went 2-for-3.
- For Longwood, Brooke Bennett and Maggie Hiatt had two hits apiece.
- Longwood leads the all-time series, 39-26. However, Liberty has won all seven meetings since leaving the Big South following the 2018 season. The Lady Flames are 13-1 against Big South teams since the 2019 campaign.
- Liberty is 13-1 at home this season, outscoring opponents 109-32. Â
- Liberty was ranked No. 20 in the D1Softball Top 25 Poll this week.
- The Lady Flames have hit 20 sacrifice flies this season, one shy one the program single-season record of 21, set in 2018.
- Craine reached base for the 11th game in a row.
- Madrey needs one more run scored to become the 25th player in program history to score 100 or more career runs as a Lady Flame.
- Roupe is now tied with Tori Zavodny (2015-18) for fifth in program history with 153 career runs scored.
- Every Lady Flame who batted today had at least one hit or one RBI.
