
Penn Rolls in Singles, Tops Liberty 5-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Despite earning a tightly contested doubles point, the Flames (6-9) were unable to hold on at No. 44 Penn (15-5), falling 5-2 on the road. Liberty falls in its first-ever spring match against Penn.
Liberty picked up doubles wins on courts one and three. All three doubles matches shared a 7-5 final tally. The Flames clinched the point with a near hour-long match on court two with Carl Roothman and Ernst Gouws prevailing.
Facing a 1-0 deficit, Penn managed to rattle off five consecutive singles wins to secure the 5-2 victory. The Quakers earned three victories in the No. 1, 5 and 4 singles matches. Penn secured the match-clinching fourth point with Sanjeev Chundu besting Joaquim Almeida (LU), 6-3, 6-4.
Liberty concluded the match picking up a triumph on court three. Siwanat Auytayakul picked up a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Tal Goodman.
