Robinson, Pitts Impress at Liberty Dual

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty showcased its strength among top programs in the region, going 20-8 overall with a 14-5 singles mark and a 6-3 doubles record. Chase Robinson was recognized as the individual winner of the event with a 5-1 overall record (3-0 singles, 2-1 doubles).
"I'm excited about the toughness and grit the team brought this weekend," Head Coach Derek Schwandt said. "The hidden dual format brought out a realistic match environment and we got pushed with our conditioning and mental toughness all tournament. Thanks to the visiting teams for bringing their best."
Liberty won matches against Elon (6-1) on Friday, Charlotte (5-2) on Saturday and Penn (4-3) on Sunday. The Flames were victorious in all three doubles rounds.
Robinson was declared the individual champion after his impressive outing. The fifth-year went undefeated in singles and went 2-1 playing with Nate Pitts.
Pitts made his Flames debut, sharing a similar 5-1 record to Robinson.
The event was Liberty's first full-team event of the fall season. The Flames sent three to the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., last week.
