
Liberty Falls 20-5 at No. 9 Virginia in Season Opener

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Liberty was taken down 20-5 on the road at No. 9 Virginia to open the 2025 season on Friday evening. Four Cavaliers recorded hat tricks, led by Jenna Dinardo with four tallies. Taiva Reinertson paced Liberty with two scores while goalkeeper Rachel Hines made a career-high 13 saves.
Liberty narrowed the Cavaliers' lead to 7-3 at the 6:30 mark in the second quarter before Virginia answered with 11-straight goals. The Lady Flames added two fourth-quarter scores from Reinertson.
Junior Delaney Donohue tallied her first career goal in the contest while Jenna Burrow scored her first goal since the 2023 season. Ava Rajala netted an impressive score in the game with a shot from well beyond the 12-meter arc.
Sophomore Rachel Hines made an impressive performance with 13 saves on 39 shots faced. She also recorded two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
The Lady Flames fall to 0-2 against Virginia and are taken down by the Cavaliers in the season-opener for the second straight year.
