
Liberty Begins 5-Game Road Swing at No. 17 Duke Wednesday

• Liberty begins a five-game road swing with a midweek visit to the No. 17 Duke Blue Devils on Wednesday. The Flames will also play a three-game series at UNC Wilmington on the weekend and a contest at Campbell next Tuesday.
• The Flames are 1-0 on the road after rallying from three down in the ninth inning to defeat No. 12 NC State 9-8 in Raleigh, N.C., last Tuesday.
• Duke will visit Campbell, before hosting the Flames on Wednesday. The Blue Devils have opened their season with a 4-3 mark at Jack Coombs Stadium.
• Last season, Duke won both games with Liberty. The Blue Devils defeated the Flames 4-2 at Jack Coombs Field on Feb. 21, 2024, and later in the year, down Liberty 9-4 at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium on April 2.  The Blue Devils have won the last three meetings between the two teams. The all-time series between the two teams has been close, with Liberty holding a 16-15 edge.
• On Friday, Liberty erased a seven-run deficit en route to a 10-7 win over Xavier at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium to run its record to 5-0. It was the first time since 2012 that the Flames have started a season 5-0. That season, Liberty began the year 7-0 mark.
• Liberty pitchers combined to strikeout 16 batters on Sunday in its 5-4 loss to Xavier. The Flames' strikeouts were the most by the Flames since they struck out 17 in a contest in a 6-1 win at Eastern Kentucky on May 14, 2023.
• Left fielder Nick Barone continues to drive in runs. This past week, Barone had at least one hit and an RBI in all four games for the Flames. The left fielder leads the Flames and is fourth in CUSA with 10 RBI.Â
• Freshman Landon Scilley continues to lead Liberty with a .400 batting average and is tied with shortstop Tanner Marsh for the team lead in hits with 10.Â
• Having started every game of his Liberty career thus far, shortstop Tanner Marsh is off to a strong start to the 2025 season. The sophomore has hit .370 and leads the Flames with a .500 on-base percentage.  He leads Liber-ty with 10 runs scored and is among the CUSA leaders in the category.
• Bradley LeCroy was named the eighth head coach in Flames' history in July 2024. He is in his third year as a head coach after two years at VCU.
