All the scoring came in the middle innings, as Liberty took a 4-1 advantage after 4 ½ innings, only to see Virginia score two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-4 lead and then hold on for the victory. Four of the Cavaliers' five runs in the game were unearned.
Flames third baseman Jordan Jaffe was the only player in the contest with two hits.
Liberty falls to 29-12 on the season. Virginia moves to 29-13.
