
Liberty Shocks Duke with 7 Runs in 8th for 13-10 Victory

Trailing 9-6, Liberty sent 12 men to the plate in the home half of the eighth inning to score seven runs on six hits to take a 13-9 lead en route to the victory.
Liberty trailed Duke 8-2 after 2 ½ innings of play. The Flames chipped away at their deficit with two runs in the third inning and two in the seventh to close within three at 8-6, heading into the eighth. In the top of the inning, Duke tacked on a run to up its advantage to 9-6.
Right-hander Jackson Evans allowed Liberty to climb back into the game with 5 1/3 innings of relief. He gave up one run on three hits, striking out five and not walking a batter.
Flames right fielder Riley DeCandido had three hits, including an RBI double in the eighth inning. He drove in two runs and scored two runs.
Left fielder Nick Barone had two hits, both in the eighth inning, including his ninth home run of the season for Liberty. He had two RBI and scored a run.
Liberty ups its record to 29-11 on the season. Duke drops to 22-21.
