LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty right-hander Cooper Harrington is one of 61 of the nation's top relief pitchers named to the 2026 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List.
Harrington enters tonight's game at No. 10 Virginia with a 2-1 record with a 4.04 ERA and seven saves over 35 2/3 innings in 16 appearances and two starts. He has struck out 44 and walked seven, averaging 11.12 strikeouts per nine innings. As a reliever, the sophomore is 1-1 with a 4.10 ERA and seven saves over 26 1/3 innings in 14 appearances.
Harrington has converted seven of his eight save opportunities and recorded a win since taking over the closer role for the Flames in a 9-3 victory over Missouri State on March 15.
In addition, he has allowed only one of the six runners he has inherited this season to score.
Currently, Harrington is third in CUSA and 22nd in the country in saves. The Sanford, N.C. native is one save shy of joining Jonathan Schnieder (2002) and Doug Smith (1980) for sixth on the Liberty single-season save list with eight.
Harrington and the rest of the Flames travel to Charlottesville, Va., for a contest against the No. 10 Virginia Cavaliers this evening. Game time at Disharoon Park is scheduled for 6 p.m.
