Liberty junior outside hitter Jenna Otts and sophomore right-side hitter Paige Overcash were both named to the Conference USA (CUSA) Volleyball All-Academic Team.
Nomination and voting were conducted by academic advisers at all 10 member institutions. Nominees were required to have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better, at least a sophomore class standing, and be a starter or key reserve.
A total of 11 student-athletes were honored on the All-Academic Team. Liberty and FIU were tied for the most honors, with two each. Delaware, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Tech, Missouri State and Western Kentucky each have one representative.
This is the third straight year that Liberty has placed two players on the CUSA All-Academic Team.
A native of Saint Johns, Fla., Otts holds a 3.63 GPA while majoring in Business Administration & Data Analytics: Digital Marketing and Advertising.
Otts has had a breakout year for the Lady Flames, leading Liberty with 3.31 kills per set. She has reached double figures in kills in 24 out of 27 total matches, including in 13 out of the first 14 CUSA matches. She was named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 29. Entering the final week of play, Otts ranks seventh in Conference USA in kills per set both overall (3.31) and in conference play (3.38). Otts has scored 10 or more kills in each of her last 11 matches entering this week.
Hailing from Ashe County, N.C., Overcash carries a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Public Health: Pre-clinical.
On the court, Overcash is an electrifying attacker on the right side for the Lady Flames. She was named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week each of the first three weeks of the season, the first CUSA player since 2019 to receive three straight CUSA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Overcash ranks ninth in the conference in kills per set both overall (3.28) and in conference play (3.14). She is 10th in CUSA in points per set both overall (3.63) and in conference matches (3.53). The sophomore has posted 20 double-digit kill matches, with 10 of those coming in Conference USA play.
Liberty (20-7, 8-6 CUSA) finishes its regular-season schedule this weekend, hosting WKU (22-5, 13-1) today and tomorrow. Seeding and matchups for the 2025 CUSA Volleyball Championship will be finalized tomorrow evening.
