LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty goalkeeper Peyton Huber has been honored as the Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week to finish the regular season, the league announced on Tuesday.
The award is Huber's first of this season and the second of her career. The recognition is Liberty's fourth Player of the Week award this season and its second Goalkeeper of the Week honor (Ainsley Leja, Sept. 26).
Huber (6-1-2) earned her fourth shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Sam Houston, making two saves on nine shots faced. Each of her clean sheets has come in CUSA action.
The redshirt sophomore has allowed a league-leading three goals in eight starts this season. She leads CUSA in conference play with a 0.40 goals-against average (GAA) mark. She has allowed four total goals (0.47 GAA) this season with 10 total appearances. Huber sports a .800 save percentage with 16 saves on 55 shots faced.
With one more start, Huber will qualify for national statistical rankings (requires 50 percent of team minutes played). She currently slots into the top 10 in the country in goals-against average.
No. 2 seed Liberty (11-3-4, 6-0-2 CUSA) prepares to host No. 7 seed Louisiana Tech (4-12-2, 3-4-1 CUSA) in the quarterfinal round of the CUSA Women's Soccer Championship. The contest is set for 11 a.m. at Osborne Stadium. All CUSA Championship games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
