
Flames Conclude Day 2 of NCAA Stanford Regional in 12th Place

STANFORD, Calif. – Liberty will enter the final round of the NCAA Stanford Regional tied for 12th place after firing a second round of 6-over par 286 during round two on Tuesday.
During its second trip around the Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6,727 yards), the Flames matched their day one regional team scorecard to drop two spots down the leaderboard. Liberty is currently tied for 12th place with an overall 12-over par 572 (286-286).
The Flames could not keep up with the torrent pace set by the top five teams on the leaderboard with four of the five firing a team score that was double-digits under-par.
Liberty's top two golfers on the day were Ike Joy and Brett Reid, who carded rounds of 1-over par 71. The pair combined to record five of Liberty's 16 birdies on the round.
Joy (72-71) and Reid (72-71) share 47th place with teammate Austin Barbin (71-72). The trio of golfers will enter tomorrow's final round with an overall score of 3-over par 143.
No. 18 Illinois enters the final round clinging to a one-shot lead with a 27-under par 533 (263-270). Their lead is over No. 6 Florida State, the top seeded team in the Regional, who is in second place with a 26-under par 534 (267-267).
Following play on Wednesday, the top five teams from each of the six NCAA Regional sites will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf National Championship, held May 24-29 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Liberty is looking to advance to the national championship for the fifth time in program history (2012, 2019, 2021 and 2022). The Flames are making their 14th NCAA Regional appearance in school history and eighth-straight showing at an NCAA Regional.
The Flames will return to the course on Wednesday morning at 12:25 p.m. EST/9:25 a.m. PST to begin round three. Liberty will be sent off the No. 10 tee, along with Fresno State and Missouri.
